Malanda Show

The Malanda Show is a traditional agricultural show celebrating the region’s farming heritage and community spirit. Families and visitors can enjoy livestock displays, competitions, rides, show bags, local food, and live entertainment.

It’s a fantastic way to experience authentic country life in the Tablelands.

Atherton Show

A classic country agricultural show with livestock displays, rides, food stalls, competitions and entertainment. Similar to the Malanda Show but held in the larger town of Atherton.

Usually held: June or July.

Mareeba Rodeo

One of Australia’s largest rodeos, the Mareeba Rodeo is a major event in the region featuring bull riding, rodeo competitions, live music and country entertainment. It attracts visitors from across Queensland and offers a true outback experience.

Tablelands Folk Festival

A vibrant music and arts festival held in nearby Yungaburra featuring live music, workshops, markets, and cultural performances. The festival brings together artists and performers from across Australia for a lively weekend celebrating music, creativity and community.

Jacaranda Festival

Each October the nearby town of Atherton celebrates the blooming jacaranda trees with a colourful community festival. Visitors can enjoy markets, live entertainment, food stalls, and family activities as the town fills with vibrant purple blossoms.

Every year the town of Malanda transforms for a fun-filled Halloween celebration that brings the whole community together. Families dress up, local businesses join the festivities, and the streets fill with spooky decorations and friendly faces.

It’s a particularly fun event for families visiting the area.

Tolga Scarecrow Festival

A quirky community festival where locals create creative scarecrow displays throughout the town of Tolga. The event features markets, family activities, entertainment and plenty of photo opportunities.
